Learning outcomes of course unit | - thorough knowledge of the basic principles in keeping a navigational watch; - the use of routeing in accordance with the General Provisions on Ship’s Routeing; - the use of navigational equipment data for maintaining a safe navigational watch; - knowledge of blind pilotage techniques; - the use of reporting in accordance with the General Principles for Ship Reporting Systems and with VTS procedures; - ability to ensure the organization and compliance with the procedure to maintain a safe navigational watch, the ability to carry out navigation in any conditions using appropriate methods to obtain accurate position fixing and optimal use of all available navigational data for navigation. |
Types of educational work | - lectures; - self-study of sections of the academic discipline: keeping watch in port; peculiarities of the navigational watch on different types of ships; the use of navigational equipment data to maitain a safe watchkeeping; basic principles of watchkeeping in the dynamic positioning mode; keeping a navigational watch with pilot on board; anchoring, keeping an anchor watch; - preparation for practical classes |
