Learning outcomes of course unit

Knowledge:

  • physical meaning and units of measurement of basic physical quantities, the mechanism of basic physical phenomena, processes and their theoretical interpretation;
  • possible ways of applying basic physical phenomena and research methods in the study of special disciplines and practical activities;
  • operating principle of the most important mechanical and electrical devices.

Skills:

  • apply knowledge in the field of physics to solve various physical problems, as well as problems of special and general engineering profiles;
  • conduct an experiment to study a particular physical process, present the results obtained graphically and estimate the measurement error;
  • give a scientific interpretation of various natural phenomena, use various physical concepts, phenomena and laws in the study of social disciplines as an example of the manifestation of general philosophical laws and categories.

Content of course unit

The acquisition of learning outcomes for the educational component is achieved by studying the educational material in the following sections:

– Fundamentals of mechanics;

– Mechanical vibrations and waves;

– Molecular physics and thermodynamics;

– Electrostatics and direct electric current;

– Magnetic interaction and alternating current;

– Wave optics;

– The quantum physics;

– Physics of the atomic nucleus.

Equipment (if applicable)    Specialized educational and research laboratory stands for the study of mechanical, thermodynamic, electrical, electromagnetic and optical processes; virtual laboratory stands deployed on personal computers; digital and analog multimeters, ammeters, voltmeters, generators and oscilloscopes.
