Learning outcomes of course unit |
- Knowledge of types of fire, the principle of operation of fire extinguishing systems, the ability to extinguish fires using appropriate equipment, including fires of fuel systems; the ability to organize firefighting training.
- Ability to conduct training drills on abandoning the ship and the ability to handle lifeboats, liferafts and emergency boats, devices and means for their launching, as well as equipment for them.
- Ability to apply medical guidance and medical advice received over the radio in practice, including the ability to take effective action based on such knowledge in the event of accidents or illnesses typical of shipboard conditions.
- Knowledge of international requirements for ship rescue equipment.
- Ability to use life-saving means and devices, fire-fighting systems and other safety systems and maintain them in operational condition.
- Knowledge of international and domestic regulatory and legal acts regarding the safety of human life at sea and protection of the marine environment and ensuring their compliance.
- Ability to personal survival, ensuring personal safety and knowledge of public responsibilities on ships.
