- Knowledge and understanding of high-voltage technology and features of use
- high-voltage equipment in shipboard APEI;
- Knowledge of the purposes, characteristics and parameters of the main and auxiliary elements of APEI and structural and functional schemes of their combination into systems;
- Knowledge of the structure, principle of operation, design features and technical rules operation of electric motors, generators, transformers, power semiconductor converters, harmonic filters, switching, protective equipment in APEI;
- Knowledge of control methods of propulsion electric motors with frequency converters, structural, functional diagrams of their implementation and features in relation to APEI;
- Knowledge of structural and functional diagrams of control, regulation, protection and monitoring systems in APEI both of classical configuration and with Asiapods;
- Knowledge of actions and requirements in the preparation of APEI for operation and during operation, tasks and conditions of safe maintenance, inspections and adjustment;
- Ability to explain the advantages and areas of use of classical and aziopod APEIs, to provide their structural or functional diagrams, to give characteristics and explanations about the complex: propulsor – propulsion motor – ship's hull in static and transient modes;
- Ability to perform and justify calculations for the determination of voltage, capacities in accordance with the requirements of the Register and to select the main elements of the APEI: electrical machines, transformers, converters, regulators;
- Ability to conduct and analyze laboratory experimental studies of APEI models.
