Learning outcomes of course unit

Knowledge:

- fundamentals of the theory of management of transport processes in the system of sea shipping;

- international and national transport classification of goods, their linear, volumetric and mass characteristics, physical-mechanical, thermophysical and hygroscopic properties;

- the content of the main international conventions, acts and national   regulatory rules that regulate the activities of transport enterprises and   cargo transportation;

- the market of service services for the analysis of the choice of the most appropriate schemes of relationships and the implementation of   control over the work of companies working in the field of servicing   ships in ports;

- organizations and technologies of sea transportation of various types   of cargo, characteristics and features of transport-technological and multimodal cargo transportation systems;

- causes of damage to goods during their storage in the port, loading onto the ship and unloading from the ship and during transportation by sea;

- general requirements for the ship's cargo plan, safe methods and technologies for processing, placing and securing cargo, including dangerous and harmful ones, as well as their impact on ensuring the safety of human life (crew members and shore personnel during the ship's parking in the port);

- technological features of loading, transportation of general, bulk, oil, timber cargoes, dangerous and perishable cargoes;

- properties of air and determination of its parameters, formation of the microclimate of port warehouses and ship's cargo spaces when sailing in different climatic zones, its influence on the preservation of cargo in port warehouses and during sea transportation;

- basic provisions of international conventions, UN resolutions, IMO codes, standards for transportation of various types of cargo, including dangerous ones.

 

Skills:

 - understand the relationship between the development of international trade, the dynamics of the main cargo flows and the specialization of maritime transport;

  - perform loading calculations of the transport vessel to optimize its use;

  - to systematize and analyze modern information about the technological processes of carrying out cargo operations in sea trade ports for making decisions on improving their economic activity;

  - apply international and national legislation on ensuring the safety of sea transportation and preventing environmental pollution;

  - understand the transport documentation related to the acceptance of goods, their sea transportation by ship and handing over to consignees, and draw up documents when loading/unloading goods in the port;

  - use automatic equipment, which includes a database for calculating the ship's cargo plan, as well as knowledge of international rules and regulatory documents regarding ship loading;

  - draw up preliminary and executive cargo plans for multi-purpose and specialized vessels taking into account landing, stability, other seaworthiness, as well as operational qualities of the vessel, hull strength;

  - use automatic equipment, which includes a database for calculating the ship's cargo plan, as well as knowledge of international rules and   regulatory documents regarding ship loading;

  - to distribute dangerous goods in the ship's cargo spaces depending on their class and combination;

  - make calculations of the state of microclimate formation of the port warehouse in the cargo spaces of the ship when it is sailing in different climatic zones;

  - use international regulatory documents of the IMO and national rules of Ukraine for the preservation of cargo during their transportation by sea.

The main goal of the study of the educational component "Technology of the transport process of shipping" is the formation of students of higher education with a complex of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, which are necessary for the acquisition of universal and professional competencies, which are the basis of mobility and increasing the competitiveness of graduates on the labor market in accordance with national and international requirements.

  • Topic 1. Transport process in the maritime shipping system and its management.
  • Topic 2. Organization of sea transportation of goods and fleet work, quality management system in shipping.
  • Topic 3. International and national transport classification of goods, their linear, volumetric and mass characteristics, physical-mechanical, thermophysical and hygroscopic properties.
  • Topic 4. Main international conventions, acts and national regulatory rules that regulate the activities of maritime transport enterprises and cargo transportation.
  • Topic 5. Causes of cargo damage during their storage in the port, loading and unloading from the ship and during transportation by sea.
  • Topic 6. Cargo plans of multi-purpose and specialized vessels, ensuring their maximum use of carrying capacity and carrying capacity, calculation of the weight of the cargo planned for loading.
  • Topic 7. Technology of transportation of general cargo, containers and heavy cargo.
  • Topic 8. Transportation of bulk, bulk and grain cargoes, loading of the ship in the port.
