Remembering:

foundations and principles of international private law;

the main conflict bindings for solving conflict problems in private relations complicated by a foreign element;

the main doctrines of the formation of collision ties.

Understanding:

the role of international private law in regulating private relations complicated by a foreign element;

patterns of emergence and development of conflict institutions;

the meaning of regimes in international private law.

Application of knowledge (skills):

classification of sources of international private law;

interpretation of conventional and national norms regulating international private relations;

identification of transactions with a foreign element;

resolution of the conflict of qualifications in the fields of international private law.

Analysing:

determination of contractual obligations with a foreign element;

separate tortious obligations in international private law;

systematization of collision ties to regulate marital and family relations with a foreign element;

recognition of the form of a will concluded with a foreign element;

definition of the content of the contract of carriage in international private law.

Evaluating:

methods of regulating private relations with a foreign element;

designation of means of resolving conflict issues in relations involving legal entities;

substantiating the grounds for applying collision ties in adoption relations with a foreign element;

proving the importance of international unified norms for the settlement of conflict issues in the commercial and arbitration process.

Content of course unit

The concepts, sources, methods, subjects and objects of international private law. Conflict of laws norms: concept, structure, types, application procedure. Reciprocity and legal regimes. Branches of international private law (marital and family law, inheritance law, labor law, copyright law, commercial law, and others). Contractual and tortious obligations. International civil process. Execution of decisions in international private law. Arbitration process.
