Learning outcomes of course unit | Memorisation: concept, subject, method, functions of international humanitarian law; individual principles and norms of international humanitarian law; categories and legal status of participants in armed conflict; types and features of armed conflicts; Understanding: the purpose and scope of international humanitarian law; the place of international humanitarian law in the system of international relations; the main problems of the effectiveness of the principles and norms of international humanitarian law; Application of knowledge (skills): have the skills to apply the norms of international humanitarian law in solving professional problems; independently resolve issues related to their interpretation; be able to navigate the system of international humanitarian law; know the peculiarities of the implementation of international humanitarian law; apply cumulative knowledge in the field of international humanitarian law to improve the mechanism of protection of victims of armed conflicts. Analysis: have skills in analysing international treaties and customary international humanitarian law; analyse legal facts and related legal relations in a situation of armed conflict; Assessment: assess the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with international humanitarian law; ability to assess the state of compliance and effectiveness of the principles and norms of international humanitarian law; assess the problems and peculiarities of the protection of war victims; Creation: models of cases and tasks on current problems faced by participants in armed conflicts; reports, essays, presentations on international humanitarian law; substantiated proposals for the development and application of the principles and norms of international humanitarian law. |
