Learning outcomes of course unit

-Knowledge of the formation of weather conditions in different climatic zones of the World Ocean.

-Knowledge of baric systems, understanding of their movement in space and time, weather in their different parts, their dangerous parts, wind.

-Skills in using forecast maps, information provided in meteorological bulletins, and information obtained from the Internet.

-Knowledge of tropical cyclones, how to avoid their dangerous parts.

-Knowledge of icebergs and sea ice in the ocean, their characteristics and appropriate actions for ship operators.

-Knowledge of the laws of wave formation, currents and tides in the oceans.

-Ability to make operational navigational decisions and decisions regarding the safety of people, cargo, ship based on climatic data and real weather conditions.

-Ability to use navigational aids on hydrometeorology.

Content of course unit

The purpose of studying the discipline is to study and analyse the impact of hydrometeorological factors on the safety of navigation. The purpose of the discipline "Hydrometeorological support of navigation" is to prepare in accordance with the International Convention STCW - 78/95 as amended in terms of the acquisition of hydrometeorological knowledge and its use in the practical activities of the master and senior mate
