Learning outcomes of course unit

Knowledge:

  • the basics of the theory, the structure of ship air conditioning systems;
  • schemes, principle of operation;
  • basis of calculation and rules of technical operation of ship systems of air conditioning, gas liquefaction and inertization;
  • methods of determination of energy characteristics;
  • requirements of the Register for ship of air conditioning systems, gas liquefaction and inertization;
  • requirements for environmental protection from pollution during the operation of ship air conditioning systems, gas liquefaction and inertization;
  • requirements of the SOLAS and MARPOL International Conventions;
  • safety rules during operation, repair and adjustment of ship air conditioning systems, gas liquefaction and inertization.

Skills:

        - to organize the operation of ship air conditioning systems, gas liquefaction and inertization, to ensure their reliability and efficiency of technical use;

        - to determine the settings of the means of automation of ship air conditioning systems, gas liquefaction and inertization depending on the given technological mode;

       - to ensure environmental protection, safe working conditions during the operation of ship air conditioning systems, gas liquefaction and inertization.

The acquisition of learning outcomes for the educational component is achieved by studying the following topics:

- Physiological and sanitary and hygienic requirements for ship air conditioning systems.

- Features of heat and moisture treatment of air in ship air conditioning systems.

- Designs of ship air conditioners and their elements.

- Terms of technical operation of ship air conditioning systems. The influence of external factors on the operating mode. The selection of operating mode depending on the requirements of sanitary standards.

- Maintenance of the air conditioning system during operation, types of maintenance, their periodicity and content.

- Maintenance of gas liquefaction systems during operation.

- Peculiarities of operating modes in ship air conditioning systems, influence of cargo characteristics on operating mode, influence of changes in external factors on operating mode.

- Maintenance of technical air conditioning systems during operation.

Equipment (if applicable) Specialized laboratory equipment, measuring instruments, thermodynamic diagrams of wet air and gases.
