Learning outcomes of course unit

  Knowledge:

  • basics of the theory, construction of ship refrigerating plants (SRP);
  • schemes, principle of operation;
  • basis of calculation and rules of technical operation of ship refrigerating plants (SRP);
  • methods of energy characteristics determination;
  • requirements of international classification societies for SRP;
  • requirements for environmental protection against pollution during the operation of SRP;
  • requirements of the SOLAS and MARPOL International Conventions;
  • safety rules for the operation of systems and equipment of SRP.

Skills:

  • to organize the operation of SRP, to ensure their reliability and efficiency of technical use;
  • to carry out adjustment of means of automation of SRP depending on the given technological mode;
  • to ensure environmental protection, safe working conditions during the operation of SRP.

The acquisition of learning outcomes for the educational component is achieved by studying the following topics:

- General requirements of classification societies for refrigerating plants of marine vessels.

- Peculiarities of schemes and composition of ship refrigerating plants depending on their purpose

- Types and arrangement of specialized vessels and their compartments. Peculiarities of designing ship refrigerating plants of specialized vessels. Refrigeration machine rooms.

- Organization of automatic control of refrigerating plants on ships.

- Assessment of the reliability of the automated refrigerating plant.

- Laws of regulation, types of regulators used for the automation of ship refrigerating plants.

- Principles of automation system construction, requirements for automation system, system development methods.

- Complex automation of the ship's refrigerating plant with the same temperature in several cooled objects.

- Complex automation of the ship refrigerating plant with different temperatures in the cooled objects.

- Planning and maintenance organization of means in ship refrigerating plant  automation.

Equipment (if applicable) Specialized laboratory equipment, measuring instruments, thermodynamic diagrams of wet air and gases.
