| Learning outcomes of course unit | Knowledge: - basics of the theory, construction of ship hydraulic drives and steering gears (HD and SG); - control schemes, system schemes and their principle of operation; - basis of calculation and rules of technical operation of ship volumetric hydraulic drives and steering gears (HD and SG); - methods of determination of the energy characteristics of HD and SG; - requirements of international classification societies for HD and SG; - the requirements of the SOLAS international convention during the operation of HD and SG; - safety rules for the operation of HD and SG systems and equipment. Skills: - to operate HD and SG, to ensure their reliability and efficiency of technical use; - carry out adjustment of control means of HD and SG depending on the given technological regime. |

| Content of course unit | The acquisition of learning outcomes for the educational component is achieved by studying the educational material in the following sections: - Steering gears and systems of steering machines; - Ship volumetric hydraulic drives in propeller-steering machines; - Operating parameters optimization of hydraulic steering gears and ship's hydraulic drive; - Technical operation of hydraulic steering gears and ship's hydraulic drive; - Hydraulic drives of auxiliary mechanisms. |
