  1. Ability to use professional terminology in English regarding lights, buoys and beacons; pilotage.
  2. Ability to read nautical charts regarding lights, buoys, dangers; anchorages and types of ground.
  3. Ability to use professional terminology in English regarding the description of dangers, anchorages and tidal currents.
  4. Ability to use professional terminology in English regarding anchoring and mooring.
  5. Ability to use professional terminology in English on the subject of  SOLAS convention, personal protective equipment, lifeboats, liferafts and rescue boats, fire preventing measures, appliances, ensuring safety on board the ship, lifeboat drills and fire
  6. Ability to use professional terminology in English regarding arrival and departure procedures of a ship and duties of an officer of watch in foreign ports.
  7. Development of reading skills and extracting all necessary information from the specializes publications. Reading and understanding of safety instructions, the ability to extract information from pilot books, describe the ship’s position according to the information on a nautical chart.
