• to draw up, submit and execute sea protest, letters of protest in order to protect the commercial interests of the shipowner;

• the international legislation on actions and the list of documents to be provided in the event of an insured event, in particular, in accordance with the York-Antwerp Rules;
• the procedures for acceptance and delivery of goods and preparation of relevant cargo and transportation documents;
• the responsibilities of various types of ship's agents and agency companies, the rights of the ship's administration in relation to the agent, the principles of charging port dues and services;
• international maritime laws implemented by international agreements and conventions and national legislations.

Understanding:

• the main provisions of voyage charters and time charters, in particular, the calculation of laytime, excluded periods, working hours, demurrage, etc;

The main purpose of the discipline "Commercial Operation of a Vessel" is to form a system of knowledge in the field of commercial support of maritime transportation; to provide thorough and necessary knowledge of basic concepts and ideas about the conditions, forms, principles of commercial relations of participants in the transportation of goods in maritime shipping: shipowners, cargo owners, port and terminal operators, representatives of service companies, etc;
