| Learning outcomes of course unit | 1.Knowledge of common English specialized terminology and typical structures of business English syntax related to ship commercial practice. 2.Knowledge of specialized terminological expressions for the commercial operation of the ship and the ability to analyze and explain written recapitulation messages. 3.Knowledge of common English specialized terminology regarding documents and professional idiomatic expression when a vessel is in port. 4.Knowledge of common English specialized terminology, professional idioms and syntactic structures regarding bills of lading and other cargo documents, as well as documents that are forged by fraudsters 5.Knowledge of common English specialized terminology and typical structures of business English syntax related to marine insurance, including types of losses, particular and general average. 6.Knowledge of common English specialized terminology and typical structures of business English syntax regarding methods of investigating the causes of accidents at sea. 7.Knowledge of common English specialized terminology and typical structures of business English syntax concerning potentially hazardous events, emergency situations related to navigation, accidents on board, and maritime incidents leading to environmental pollution. 8.Knowledge of the common forms and rules for writing letters, reports and instructions on a ship, as well as the ability to read and correctly understand ship documentation in English and maintain ship correspondence and reporting in English. 9.The ability to communicate in everyday situations and in business community while performing professional duties in a multilingual ship crew, guided by knowledge of IMO conventions, the Bridge Procedures Guide, the ISM Code and other relevant documents |
