Learning outcomes of course unit

To know:
peculiarities of the functional activity of maritime and inland water transport enterprises;

economic methods of evaluating the activities of enterprises of the maritime transport complex of the state;

methods and forms of using material, human, technical and other types of resources in shipping.

To understand:

the nature of economic laws and the essence of foreign economic phenomena in the functioning and development of the world freight market,

the main economic principles of the functioning of world and national shipping, the relationship between the work of the maritime industry and the economy of the state in general.

To be able to:

analyze the stages of cyclicality and the state of the freight market;

systematize the factors affecting the functioning of the freight market, use the received information to solve problems and form forecasts of the development of the freight market in difficult and unpredictable conditions;

evaluate opportunities and reserves for increasing the efficiency of maritime transport as a whole and its individual enterprises;

create proposals regarding the possibility of increasing the efficiency of the shipping company and other enterprises of the maritime transport complex;

apply the toolkit of effective operation of shipping companies on the freight market.

The discipline includes familiarization with the main concepts and tasks of sea and river transport, both at the world and national levels;

mastering knowledge about the peculiarities of the functioning of sea and inland water transport;

understanding the basic principles of effective operation of shipping companies in the maritime trade market;

economic methods of evaluating the activity of enterprises and factors of effective functioning of sea and inland water transport.
