Learning outcomes of course unit | Students must know: - the structure of the ship control system and the functions of the ship technical operation (STO) subsystem, as its constituent part, in interaction with other ship control subsystems; - the principles of forming ships’ budget for their technical operation, equal distribution of main expenses on STO and expenses peculiarities that affect qualified and timely performance of maintenance and repair (MR) of ship technical means (STM); - procedures that ensure planning, safe carrying out of STM MR and ship hull structures (SHS) and their operability in accordance with ISM Code requirements; - regularities of changes in the maintenance and repair of STM and SHS during the operation of vessels; - characteristic STM and SHS failures and malfunctions, their causes and consequences; - theoretical foundations, schemes and methods of technical diagnostics (TD); - basic principles of diagnostic models and algorithms for fault localization formation; - TD methods and means and non-destructive control of STM and SHS technical condition (TC). Students must be able to: - manage safe and effective maintenance and repair procedures of STM and SHS; - analyze the causes of failures and malfunctions of the STM; - use TD methods and means and also non-destructive testing to determine, detect malfunctions and to prevent STM failures; - make right decisions in the event of emergencies; - provide optimal modes of STM operation, taking into account actual STM and SHS TC. |
