Learning outcomes of course unit

Students must demonstrate:

1) the ability to perform the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in column 2 of the table at the operational level. A-Ш/1 of the 1978 STCW Convention with amendments;

2) training and experience to achieve the necessary knowledge, understanding and professionalism (should be based on section A – VII1/1, part 3-2 – "Principles of keeping a running engine watch", and should take into account the relevant requirements of this part and the guidance given in of Part B of the 1978 STCW Convention with amendments), namely:

- safe engine room watch-keeping;

- usual duties performed while watch-keeping;

- operating procedures of power plant mechanisms at normal and special modes;

- operating procedures of power plant and vessel systems;

3) the ability to perform the tasks, duties and responsibilities at the management level listed in Table A-Ш/2 of the 1978 STCW Convention, with amendments.

Section 7. Bunkering operations.

Section 8. Ballast operations. 

Equipment (if applicable) Laboratory equipment: centrifugal pumps of the educational engine room. Laboratory equipment: Diesel 8NVD 36-1. Laboratory equipment: DAP ME simulator. Computer simulator using the "Crew" software.
