Learning outcomes of course unit | Successful completion of the academic discipline program involves obtaining the following learning outcomes: - to know the structure, purpose, principles of operation and ship power plants elements operation; - know the purpose of a combined engine ideal cycle and to be able to compare it with other engines; - knowledge and understanding of constructive solutions of modern low-speed, medium-speed and high-speed diesel engines; - knowledge and understanding of gas exchange processes of four-stroke and two-stroke diesel engines; - knowledge and understanding of the thermal balance components of a ship's diesel installation; - knowledge and understanding of supercharging processes of four-stroke and two-stroke diesel engine plant; - knowledge and understanding of forces and moments in the crank mechanism; - knowledge and understanding of the critical torsional vibrations appearance in the shaft pipeline system and means of their elimination; - knowledge and understanding of methods to improve the efficiency and economy of marine diesel engines; - knowledge and the ability to ensure the environmental characteristics of ship diesel engines, as well as indicators of their reliability and economy; - knowledge and understanding of organizational and technical measures to increase marine diesel plant operating efficiency ; - understanding and ability of structural calculations of marine diesels individual elements , in particular for strength; - the ability to use regulatory documents on the marine diesel engine plant operation and maintenance. |
