Completion and defense of a diploma master’s work (DMW) is confirmation of the cadet's / student's acquisition of the following skills:

• justify the level of relevance of research or development;
• clearly formulate an actual, unsolved task and topic of research or development;
• determine the purpose and task, subject and object of scientific research or development;
• organize the collection of information, summarize and analyze it using the appropriate methods of processing and analysis;
• apply methods of engineering forecasting and support of diagnostic models for systems of monitoring and assessment of the technical condition of the research object;
• carry out simulation modeling, research and optimization of object parameters on the basis of developed and available research and design tools, including standard and specialized application program packages;
• perform the solution of a specific separate scientific and applied task in the field of professional activity, which corresponds to the master's specialization;
• apply modern methods, tools and technologies to solve scientific and practical tasks and research;
• draw reasonable conclusions and formulate practical recommendations based on the results of the work;
• to prepare and present scientific and technical reports, reviews, publications based on the results of completed research in accordance with established requirements;
• to present the main provisions of the work to the audience.

The DMW is a type of scientific and technical documentation, consisting of an explanatory note (with a task to be performed) and a presentation part (in paper and electronic form), accompanied by the feedback of the manager and reviews of reviewers (internal and external).

DMW is personally defended by its author at an open meeting of the Examination Commission (EC). Based on the results of the public defense of the DMW, the EC makes a decision on awarding the master's educational qualification by specialization.
