Learning outcomes of course unit

Knowledge:

◦ Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of the course, methodological principles of studying and researching foreign policy;

◦ Knowledge of the main stages and trends in the formation of Ukrainian foreign policy;

◦ Knowledge of important foreign policy actions, international agreements, treaties, socio-economic circumstances that determined the content of Ukraine's foreign policy in various historical conditions;

◦ Knowledge of Ukraine's activities in the foreign policy arena, participation in the work of international organizations, contribution to the maintenance of peace and stability in the world;

◦ Knowledge of the content of diplomacy and the conditionality of geopolitical orientations of the Ukrainian state at various stages of its development;

◦ Knowledge of the origins and modern dimensions of Ukrainian geopolitics in a broad European context.

 

Skill:

◦ to analyze events and phenomena of international life based on the acquired knowledge, draw historical parallels and analogies in relation to modern geopolitical processes;

◦ to form one's own attitude to geopolitical processes and justify one's position and defend it civilly in discussions;

◦ ability to independently interpret the content of the legislative framework of the main areas of international cooperation of Ukraine;

◦ the ability to characterize Ukraine's relations with the integration associations of Western, Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, and Latin America;

◦ the ability to identify and explain the connection between political processes and the objective realities of social life with the geopolitical constants of the modern world.

The acquisition of learning outcomes for the educational component is achieved by studying the educational material in the following sections:

-Theoretical foundations of geopolitics.

-Origins and features of Ukraine's foreign policy.

-Independent Ukraine in the contemporary geopolitical space. Geopolitics of Ukraine in the context of European integration.
