Types of heat transfer. The main types of evaporators and air coolers, condensers, liquid subcoolers, regenerative heat exchangers, intermediate tanks and receivers;

- definition of the cooling system (CS), its composition, purpose, classification and basic requirements. Systems with direct cooling: pumpless and pump-circulation, with an intermediate coolant: battery cooling system, with a thermal jacket, panel system. Their schemes, principle of operation, advantages and disadvantages. Characteristics of refrigerants. Air CS and combined systems;

- the requirements for ship refrigerating plant (SRP) schemes. Schemes of connecting units of SRP such as single-stage piston and screw compressors, condensers, receivers, regulating stations, intermediate vessels, intermediate cooler. Schemes of refrigerant supply units to evaporative systems. Unit for emergency release of liquid and vapor refrigerant. Schemes of supply unit and connection of salt-water evaporators and cooling devices with an intermediate coolant.

Be able to:

- use the d-h diagram when determining the state of wet air, the processes of its cooling and heating, drying and humidification, as well as mixtures of its various states;

- determine the coefficient of thermal conductivity of the insulation, its condensation zone and ways of its elimination;

- carry out their thermal calculation and selection;

- carry out a comparative assessment and selection of air conditioners and the method of refrigeration supply;

- read diagrams of refrigerating plants and be guided by them during the operation of SRP.
