Learning outcomes of course unit
  • Applicants will master the appropriate active vocabulary and will be able to write it
  • They will read, translate and discuss the texts, answer the questions put to it.
  • Applicants will learn everyday English in constructions that express greetings, introductions, gratitude, apologies, farewells, and giving advice. They will learn conversational phrases with dates, prices, and telling time.
  • Having completed a sufficient number of various exercises, they will acquire the ability to implement question, statement, and negation structures in the present, past, and future simple tenses in speech practice.
  • During the listening session, the applicants will learn to understand English by listening to authentic materials.
  • Applicants will be able to read and translate texts according to the programme.
  • They will learn the appropriate speech constructions, morphological units, which will make it possible to easily operate the vocabulary of the same root parts of the language, to work out the syntax structures of the English language provided by the programme at a sufficiently high level to implement them in speech.
  • Applicants will study and correctly reproduce the speech structures used by native speakers when seeing a person off, wishing them all the best, expressing care, saying goodbye to them.
  • They will be able to write an e-mail about looking for a job, and a written report.
  • Applicants will read and translate texts pertaining to topics related to the vocabulary needed to acquire and communicate information about the basics of electrical equipment, the use of electricity on board ship, the operation of the ship electric propulsion system, etc.
  • They will be able to convey conventional speech communication that simulates situations in which it will be necessary to demonstrate basic knowledge of the profession and apply it into solving various problems and tasks.
  • Applicants will visit the multimedia class at the end of the semester to demonstrate prepared presentations on the topics of the thematic content block and discuss the viewed material.
