- Knowledge of heat transfer basics, mechanics and hydromechanics; understanding of mechanical systems.
- The ability to prepare propulsion control systems and auxiliary mechanisms for work.
- Knowledge of the structure, principle of operation and rules of technical operation of automation systems and control of the main propulsion plant and auxiliary mechanisms.
- Knowledge of the structure, principle of operation and rules of technical operation of electrical, electronic systems and control systems of deck mechanisms and cargo lifting equipment.
- Ability to use electrical and mechanical equipment.
