Learning outcomes of course unit
  • The ability to model and analyze dynamic and steady-state electrical and electromechanical processes in semiconductor converters, electric machines and transformers, taking into account the features of energy conversion in regulated electric drive systems for particular application conditions.
  • The ability to build semiconductor converters models, electric machines and their loads to determine systems main electrical indicators: total harmonic distortion coefficient, power factor coefficient, amplitude of current higher harmonics and voltage on motor sides and power supply networks.
  • The ability to use the methods and results of modelling for diagnosis and monitoring of ship electromechanical facilities technical condition.
  • Doing quality testing and maintenance of semiconductor converters, electric machines and transformers during their operation as a part of adjustable electric drives.
  • Malfunctions main types diagnosis of semiconductor converters, electric machines and transformers in adjustable electric drives systems.
  • Knowledge of types, functioning principles and operation modes of semiconductor converters, control rules taking into account power and electromechanical processes.
  • Knowledge of operation peculiarities of electric machines on semiconductor converters in adjustable electric drives systems.
